Conexant Systems has introduced the CX92745 processor for interactive display devices (IDA) with audio, high performance video and touch screen capabilities. IDA can be used for home network terminals, interactive signage and kiosks, as well as multimedia applications for home automation and touch screen functions. The CX92745 display, media and image processor uses Conexant's proprietary image processing pipeline, high-performance HD video hardware engine, graphics processing unit and powerful microprocessor to deliver high-speed, high-quality photo rendering and multimedia processing. The new system-on-chip (SoC) solution also includes an integrated Class D amplifier that maximizes audio performance and power efficiency; an internal power controller reduces material costs.
The new processor is based on an ARM RISC processor to support high-performance embedded application design. The CX92745 also includes an integrated ARM vector floating point unit, large internal cache, and high-speed DDR2 memory for maximum multimedia and graphics processing. Other features include a programmable LCD interface for analog and digital displays, and a touch screen controller that enables low-cost, advanced capacitive touchscreen functionality. The processor also includes an integrated USB 2.0 host and device port for high-speed, bidirectional data transfer and USB peripheral connectivity. In addition, the processor integrates a BT.656 compatible video input port to support camera and video peripheral interfaces.
In addition to high-performance system solutions for interactive display devices, Conexant's image portfolio includes highly integrated MFP SoCs for inkjet, laser, photo and label printers. The company also offers fax SoC and data pump solutions.
Samples of the CX92745 are available now and are expected to be in volume production in January 2011. Evaluation kits and reference designs based on new SoC solutions will be provided free of charge to qualified customers. The processor is packaged in an environmentally friendly, RoHS/green-compliant 400-pin fine-pitch ball grid array package, priced at $9 each.
