Vector network analyzer is a basic tool for evaluating the performance of RF microwave components. It has a wide range of applications. Let's take a look at the filter network to see how the vector network analyzer E5063A tests an RF microwave component.
— Step 1 —
Set the test parameters of the vector network analyzer E5063A: start and cutoff frequency, IF bandwidth and test points, then perform calibration to remove system errors. Here we use a fast and accurate E-cal calibration.
Before calibration, please observe whether the LED indicator of E-Cal has turned green. Green indicates that ECal is ready to start calibration. (If you are using N755x series electronic calibration, it can start calibration after starting, no need to wait) .
Another important thing to note is to check the source output power of the mesh to avoid damaging the electronic calibration or overloading the electronic calibration. We adjust the source output power to -15 dBm. Connect the B port of the electronic calibration unit to port 1 of the E5063A. Connect the A port of the electronic calibration unit to the end of the SMA cable. Be sure to tighten with a torque wrench and start calibration. The calibration process takes only a few seconds.
— Step 2 —
Start measuring the connection of the device under test to port 1 of the E5063A and one end of the SMA cable. (The other end of the SMA cable is connected to port 2 of the E5063A) for S11 port 1 reflection measurement. The measurement results are displayed in logarithms (default).
— Step 3 —
Data analysis of the S-parameter measurement results is performed to measure S21 (transmission measurement between ports 1 and 2).

Open a marker on the S21 measurement result (trace 1), search for the peak value
Analyze the bandwidth of the bandpass filter (the E5063A provides 3dB bandwidth calculation)
