Intersil has announced the launch of the ISL76321 serial / deserializer (SerDes) interface chip for automotive rearview security systems. This single-chip transceiver solution simplifies system design by transmitting video data, bidirectional control information, and power over a shielded twisted pair (STP) cable. This product helps designers reduce system costs, simplify design, and at the same time extend the transmission distance and improve video image quality. ISL76321 expands the Intersil product portfolio, combining Intersil Techwell® display management, LED lighting, ambient brightness sensing, and power management devices to provide customers with a complete rearview camera security solution.

ISL76321 concentrates 16-bit video data and bidirectional I2C control information on a high-speed STP cable, with a data transmission distance of more than 20 meters. ISL76321's unique remote link remote control function allows the controller to obtain images through the I2C interface. The working mode can be selected and adjusted, such as exposure and window size. This feature facilitates the camera to work under dynamically changing conditions. The use of video data lines to transfer control data eliminates the complexity of wiring and reduces weight.
The camera link contains a pair of ISL76321 cables. By connecting an STP cable, a high-resolution, serial data link is established between the remote video camera and the central control unit. This interface transceiver has a pixel clock range of 8MHz to 50MHz and a raw data rate of up to 1000Mbps. It can provide a reliable link for a large number of video-based active and passive safety systems for vehicle departure warning, road sign recognition and pedestrian avoidance. Such systems have been highly valued. The United States Automobile Safety Administration (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) has issued a notice requiring that all new models in the United States must be equipped with rear-view cameras by 2014 to prevent drivers from colliding with pedestrians.
ISL76321 adopts industry standard 8b / 10b coding technology to improve signal integrity and support link hot swapping. Even in the harshest noise environment, the unique fast wire-speed locking PLL system (locking time is 10 microseconds, similar devices are more than 10 microseconds), can ensure the reliability of the link-this is the importance of critical safety systems factor.
The ISL76321 has enhanced functions, adding transmission pre-emphasis and cable equalization (EQ). These functions support 16-speed programming, making this product a multi-inline cable transmission distance of up to 20 meters. At the same time, in the short-distance application environment, ISL76321 can use lower-cost cables to further reduce system costs. Transceiver cable equalization improves the signal-to-noise ratio at the receiving end without increasing EMI radiation.
Finally, the Intersil solution helps to adopt the low-cost LVDS power supply mode to support the maximum load current (up to one ampere). In this way, the system can be powered remotely through the same STP cable, further reducing wiring complexity, cost and weight, and simplifying OEM installation.
ISL76321 is currently undergoing AECQ100 Level 2 certification (-40 ° C to 105 ° C). The product is packaged in a small 48-pin TQFN package with a minimum order price of $ 4.55 per 1,000 units. The device is currently providing samples to certified customers and is scheduled for mass production in 2011. Provide customers with an evaluation system for evaluating product performance, including transmitter and receiver boards, and Molex HSALink cables.
