NVIDIA: We no longer make chipsets

Although some of the older models still have a low market share, although NVIDIA has also been working hard, the exit of the chipset is already inevitable. Chipsets and SoC development teams have also merged earlier this year. Strengthen the development power of the Tegra product line.

NVIDIA has finally finally admitted that it has thoroughly said to the chipset. Huang Renxun said at the financial meeting yesterday: "We don't make any chips any more. We are building SoCs now. We are producing Tegra SoC, so we will raise the (chip) integration to a new level... Chipset business this year It basically got stuck because we didn't really broaden its sales."

But not creating does not mean that it will no longer be sold. Huang Renxun said: "In AMD (platform), our AMD chipset status is still quite good. I feel that these chip sets will continue to ship next year. There are MCP89, our latest generation of Intel chipset, is definitely a Fabulous engineering artworks, our cooperation with Apple is also very pleasant, they will continue to use it for a period of time. So, I think (the chipset business) will disappear longer than people expected, but I don't know how long it will take."

Traditionally, the chipset business contributed 30% of NVIDIA's total revenue, and the just-arralled third quarter of fiscal 2011 was said to have fallen to 15%, but it has not been officially confirmed.
