NXP: Three Innovation Roads for In-Vehicle Networks

NXP: Three Innovation Roads for In-Vehicle Networks In the future, the in-vehicle network will develop in the direction of intelligence and networking. In order to meet the high data processing requirements of in-vehicle networks, the industry has derived various in-vehicle network standards: CAN, FlexRay, MOST, and automotive Ethernet, etc. The semiconductor devices required for the network also have certain requirements. It is predicted that by 2018, the distribution of vehicle network nodes will be as follows: powertrain> 400 million nodes, vehicle safety> 500 million nodes, in-vehicle entertainment> 350 million nodes, chassis> 250 million nodes, and body electronics> 2.1 billion nodes . Obviously, this is a promising market. How to occupy the market through new technologies, NXP put forward its own road to innovation.

Li Xiaohe, director of global market and business development for NXP Semiconductors' automotive network product line, stated: "NXP will promote the innovation of the automotive network from three aspects: network performance, system optimization, and industry standardization."

In terms of network performance, in order to achieve a more reliable, faster, and more secure network, NXP has connected Ethernet to vehicles to support data exchange between ADAS camera systems, multimedia, Car2X, and telematics technology; using 48V power supply system with High-voltage battery management features, while meeting global EMC/ESD standards; driving the development of FlexRay.

The goal of system optimization is to simplify the system, reduce costs, and save energy and protect the environment. To this end, NXP uses a wide range of SBCs to implement fully integrated and flexible systems; it uses local networks (PNs) to implement high-performance power management; and it uses customized ASSPs to expand its product line.

For industry standardization, Li Xiaohe said that standards are very important for automotive electronics, and a sound ecosystem based on standards can effectively promote the development of the industry. In this regard, NXP is a founding member of the IVN (vehicle network) standards, has a full range of WW product lines, and also initiated the establishment of the OPEN alliance, which has unique conditions in the industry standard setting. At the same time, NXP has four generations of different technologies and is capable of seamless product upgrades. And more than 1 million Tx series chips are sold every day, with sub-ppm quality. NXP will also promote the 48V power supply standard because it is more in line with increasing EMC requirements.

IGET

The disposable ecig arms race continues, with ever larger devices continuing to hit the market. The newest disposable juggernaut is the IGET XXL, with a nic strength of 5 percent, this device holds over five times more nic salts than a standard disposable bar and approximately nine times more than a Juul Pod. What this means is written boldly on the packaging for all to see: 1800 puffs, a number that will vary depending on how long your average inhale is.
