Samsung plans to use Google TV on its own chip home entertainment products

According to foreign media reports, according to informed sources, Samsung Electronics may use Google TV software on home entertainment products based on its own chips instead of Intel chips.

Samsung had previously considered using Google TV software, but because Google asked it to use Intel Atom chip to give up. Now that Google has lifted its restrictions on the chips used in its products, Samsung may consider Google TV again.

Samsung’s support will help Google consolidate its leadership position in the online search market and open up the home entertainment device market. Samsung hopes to use its own chips in new products, on the one hand to help it challenge Intel in the home entertainment device market, and on the other hand to reduce the company's dependence on personal computer sales.

According to Google, Google TV software can help users search for online video and other content on the TV. So far, only Sony's TVs and Blu-ray players and Logitech's set-top box products have used this software.

Samsung spokesman, Intel spokesman and Google spokesperson declined to comment. Google shares fell 2.50 U.S. dollars on the Nasdaq stock market yesterday, to close at 608.82 U.S. dollars; Intel shares rose 0.14 U.S. dollars, to close at 21.29 U.S. dollars per share. Samsung shares rose 0.2% to 931,000 won per share today.
