European semiconductor industry new bureau suspicion

STMicroelectronics President and CEO Carlo Bozotti recently stated that the company has no intention of including Infineon’s wireless communications business in a joint venture between NSF and NXP; in this case, Infineon’s wireless chip division appears to be Another home.

Vijay Nagarajan, an engineer from Atheros Communications, boldly predicted on his personal blog from the perspective of a network industry analyst. Infineon is not only likely to merge with NXP, but also may form a wireless chip joint venture with Freescale. Two things don't conflict with each other. He also used the recent high-level personnel changes of Infineon as his prediction.

There are also independent analysts believe that Infineon's strength in high-end mobile phone chips is stronger than NXP and Italy. For example, Deutsche analysts classify Infineon and Freescale as second-tier suppliers, NXP as a third-line supplier, and STMicroelectronics as a four-line supplier.

However, it is clear that Infineon's strength in the automotive sector can help NXP strengthen its position in the market, and both parties may be happy to have wafer foundry TSMC produce chips for them. Retaining the expertise of automotive chip design in Europe (perhaps not manufacturing) is very important for car manufacturers such as Daimler-Chrysler and BMW.

Regardless of the outcome, it is certain that EU officials will intervene in the changes that will be made to the European semiconductor industry.
