The three-in-one tradeshow in Seoul, Korea proved to be a big success, providing crossover between the LED lighting and display industries. The combined show of LED EXPO 2007 and FPD Korea 2007 affirmed its position as Asia's top crossover event for the LED And display industries welcoming more than 14,000 attendees to Korea's KINTEX Exhibition Center from May 29 to June1.
This year the Expo also added Lighting Sign Korea to its expanding coverage of the display and lighting industries. The three-in-one exhibition was an impressive showcase of system components, process technology, and brilliant display innovations.
Show visitors explored the offerings of 195 exhibitors, a 10 percent increase over 2006, including 47 international exhibitors. Attendees composition from Asia, Europe, North America, South America, Africa and Australia. The show draws a serious business audience with more than 75% Of the visitors coming from manufacturing, trade and distribution companies.
First-time exhibitor Jaime Schmitt of CeramTec Ag in Germany ran through his supply of literature during the second day of the exhibition and commented, "We thought this would be the right show for us and it's been a real success. Now the work starts in Following up on all the leads."
A regular at the exhibition, Jack Liu of Taiwan Oasis Technology said, "We come every year. There are always lots of new products to see at the show."
Belle Lai of Cotco International, a Cree company, noted, “We came back after a three year absence. We had to reconnect with our market.â€
The conference component of the Expo also demonstrated highly successful. Thirty-two distinguished speakers presented three days of diverse and dynamic information regarding research and developments in LEDs, flat panel displays and next generation lighting.
Speakers included top scientists and engineers from leading manufacturers such as Samsung SDI, Osram Sylvania, and Phillips as well as market seers from leading industry associations in the US and Europe.
The latter includes Michael Lebby, president of the Optoelectronics Industry Development Association in the US, and Chris Williams, director of the UK Displays & Lighting Network (UKDL). Commenting on future prospects for the display industry, Lebby projected the display market will “grow To over $200 billion in 2016 with LCDs being the gorilla and OLEDs gathering momentum."
Ok-Kyeon Mun, director of the Expo Secretariat, noted that Korea is a worldwide leader in the LED and flat panel display industries. "To see where these industries are going in the future, this exhibition is and will be the place to be, He said.
