Introduction: According to statistics, there are about 11,000 hotels currently operating in China, of which 80% are over three stars. With the rapid growth of domestic and foreign tourism and business activities, especially the 2008 Olympic Games landing in China, Chinese hotels have ushered in a golden opportunity for vigorous development. However, this kind of opportunity can be said to be enjoyed by three-star or more hotels, and ordinary hotels are on the brink of elimination. So what are the reasons? How can a small and medium-sized hotel get rid of the mud and usher in rapid development?

Reporter: China's hotel industry has ushered in the spring of development, but small and medium-sized hotels are facing the fate of being eliminated. What do you think is the reason?
Tongfang: There are many reasons for this: First, there may be problems with cash flow, service quality issues, and internal management issues. Second, non-foreign-related hotels are not able to receive foreign guests, but also restrict the further development of the hotel.
In the final analysis, because of the low management level of non-star hotels and the lack of uniform standards, the quality of service cannot be guaranteed. Coupled with the difficulty of hotel cost control and low customer satisfaction rate, continuous customer losses are caused.
Reporter: In the face of this situation, do you have any suggestions to help the small and medium-sized hotels get rid of the mud and develop healthily?
Tongfang: I think that what small and medium-sized hotels are currently doing is to implement information-based hotel management as soon as possible.
In fact, "intelligence in hotel management" has become an effective way for hotels to improve management, provide personalized accommodation services, and ultimately achieve "open source and reduce expenditure." However, small and medium-sized hotels below three stars have not yet entered the basics.
On the one hand, the reason is that the traditional hotel information system has a high construction cost, which makes it unacceptable for low-star hotels. In general, the hotel installation information system must have a dedicated computer room. The computer room has at least two staff members. It should be remembered according to the salary of a three-star hotel. If one year's fee is less, it will be 50,000 yuan. Buy expensive servers. The computer equipment that was bought with huge sums of money was retired in less than four years and re-purchased. The hotel fell into a quagmire of software and hardware upgrades year after year. Most of the small hotels do not have specialized computer rooms and informatization managers. Their investment in this area is also very limited. The purchase price of software is usually within 10,000 yuan.
On the other hand, the reason is that information vendors are not optimistic about the small and medium-sized hotel market, so they have not invested human and material resources to develop information management software that meets this market demand. At present, most of the domestic hotel management systems use the C/S structure and are used for single-star hotels with more than three stars. They are not developed for the needs of economic chain hotels and small and medium-sized hotels. The main reasons for adopting the C/S structure at present are:
1. Because of the underdevelopment of the Internet in the past, the C/S structure was a system architecture that the hotel system consistently adopted. It is relatively easy to carry out redevelopment on this basis.
2. The C/S structure can control the network connection from the external network to avoid data leakage and the internal management staff of the hotel is convenient for management and control.
3. The preparation of B/S structure development technology is insufficient. Many core technologies of hotel management software development companies are mostly in the hands of several old employees. They are rarely familiar with B/S architecture software development and it is difficult to develop in a short time. B/S version;
4. Products are located in three-star or more hotels. In the three-star or more hotel system, the C/S system is still the mainstream demand, and the market requirements for the B/S architecture system are not urgent.
Reporter: So, do you think that the hotel software of B/S architecture has low cost and is suitable for the information needs of small and medium-sized hotels; and the C/S architecture has high costs and is suitable for star-rated hotels, right? Can you explain the specific reason?
Tongfang: You understand very well, B/S architecture hotel software cost is low, suitable for information needs of small and medium-sized hotels. As for the reasons, we must first introduce the difference between the B/S architecture and the C/S architecture.
The C/S structure, the Client/Server structure, is a well-known software system architecture. Although the open mode is used, this is only an open level at the system development level, regardless of the specific application. Whether the client side or the server side also needs specific software and fails to provide the open environment that the user really expects; the B/S structure, ie, Browser/Server (browser/server) structure, is the same as the rise of the Internet technology.
