On November 21, 2016, the German elmos company announced the launch of the E520.44 device, a sensor signal processor (SSP), which can be flexibly used for analog voltage output and has a digital SENT interface, which can be flexibly applied to automotive electronics. Fields such as resistive bridges, pressure, stress and torque measurements. Customers can adapt to off-the-shelf pressure sensor applications by simply using a chip with EEPROM.
With its extremely low input noise, the E520.44's best low range sensitivity is between 1mVpp/V and 100mVpp/V. Therefore, excellent signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) is obtained even at low level signal levels. For example, in the case of 5mVpp, the SNR can also be higher than 70dB. The device has a short settling time of less than 0.5 ms and a delay of less than 2 ms. The single-wire SIO connection for sensor calibration is the same as the device connection in active mode. The sensor signal processor (SSP) requires a 5V power supply, including the signal output section, to instantly withstand voltage surges of up to +40/-28V. The SSP will still work when the ambient temperature is as high as 150 °C. Fully integrated self-test and diagnostics make the device suitable for automotive applications where safety is critical.
Elmos designed the E520.44 specifically for pressure measurement systems using the new digital automotive SENT interface protocol, which conforms to the standard SAEJ2716.
