The world's thinnest flexible OLED comes out

The joint research team at the University of Tokyo in Japan and John Kepler University in Austria recently announced that they have developed the world's thinnest and lightest organic light-emitting diode (O LED ), which can be bent at will and is only 2 microns thick.

According to a website such as the Japan News Agency, the research team successfully produced an organic light-emitting diode with a total thickness of 2 μm and a weight of only 3 g per square meter on an ultra-thin PET plastic film with a thickness of only 1.4 μm. It has good flexibility and does not affect its energization performance.

The research team has also successfully developed ultra-thin organic solar cells and organic transistor integrated electronic circuits composed of carbon molecular materials using ultra-thin polymer films. The new technology invention can integrate components such as organic light-emitting diodes, organic solar cells and organic transistors on the same polymer film, which is lighter and thinner than the previous similar electronic devices.

Organic light-emitting diodes and organic solar cells are key projects in the field of material research and development in recent years, and have entered a practical stage. The organic light-emitting diode display device has the advantages of power saving, color reproduction, and fast response speed, and is regarded as a next-generation display material, and the demand for its weight reduction and ultra-thinness has been driving the related technological progress.
